Exclusive! Guru Randhawa On Loud Punjabi Characters In Hindi Movies, "It's A Norm That Punjabis Will Drink..."

Guru Randhawa has impressed one and all with his excellent singing skills, but now, he is all set to make his acting debut with the movie Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay. The movie is directed by G Ashok, and it also stars Saiee Manjrekar and Anupam Kher in the lead roles. Filmibeat interacted with Guru and Saiee recently and spoke to them about the movie.

We usually see that when a Punjabi singer makers his Bollywood debut, the character he gets is shown in a bit caricature way like they talk very loudly. But, when we watch the teaser of Guru's film we don't get to see that. When asked Guru if this was his consious desicion of not doing such a role, he told us, "I am a very intelligent person; I know what I want, and I know when and what I have to do. It happens or not that depends on Bhagwan. I try to put my energies towards that and that's a character that I have got. It has become a norm that if you are Punjabi you will talk loudly, you will eat non veg and drink alcohol, and I don't do any such things. I am the most darpok Punjabi (laughs), main apne kaam se kaam rakhta hu."

"I stay with people from whom I get good energies, and this character is Punjabi, but not the sterotypical one. He is a very nice guy who wants to make everyone happy. Yeh Punjabiyon ki khaasiyat hai, hum sabko khush karna chahate hai life mein. Even if we talk normally, people think we are joking, but this character is different."

Further talking about the movie, Guru said, "It's a love story. A story that will get a smile on your face with a social message."

Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay is slated to release on 16th February 2024.
