Deepika Padukone's Condition To Work In Telugu Films: Deepika Padukone is one of the finest actors in the industry who has proved her mettle time and again on the big screen. From being a girl next door to portraying a historical character, doing romance and even action, Deepika has managed to leave a mark with every role she did and it has always been a treat to watch her onscreen. And now, Deepika is making headlines for her upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD which has been helmed by Nag Ashwin.

Also starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani and Kamal Hassan in the lead, Kalki 2898 AD is the first motion picture instalment of the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe and is set in a post-apocalyptic world, in the year 2898 AD. To note, the sci-fiction film will be releasing in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and English languages on June 27. Interestingly, Kalki 2898 AD will mark Deepika's debut in Southern cinema and she is quite excited about it.

Given the massive buzz about Deepika's Telugu debut, the diva was quizzed about if she would be doing Telugu films in the future. This happened during the Kalki 2898 AD pre-release event and Deepika reacted saying, "Sure. If the audience would like me then sure". To note, Kalki 2898 AD marks Deepika's first collaboration with Prabhas and third with Amitabh Bachchan after Piku and Aarakshan.

Meanwhile, as Kalki 2898 AD will reportedly chronicle some events of the Mahabharata in the year of 3102 BC, Nag Ashwin in his interaction with Deadline stated that the movie "does not involve any characters actively worshipped by large numbers of Hindus". He further asserted, "We can take it as extremely religious or we can take it as the story of somebody who was born with a lot of power, didn't know what to do with it, and found his mentor in the process".
