There was another point to be noted, apart from the discrepancy in the surname, from the post Malaika Arora shared on Instagram that the actress was only 11 years younger from her father. While Malaika was born in 1973, Anil Mehta was born in 1962. Now, after digging out the fact, it is found that Malaika Arora's father Anil Mehta was her stepfather, with whom her mother, Joyce Polycarp, got married after coming to Mumbai. Her biological father Anil Arora was an employee to the Indian Merchant Navy, and lives in Punjab. Her mother got separated from him when the actress was 11 years old only.

Last night, Malaika wrote a heartfelt note and asked for privacy from the media, she wrote about her stepfather, "He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time."

Anil Mehta's funeral was held in Mumbai today, and celebrities like Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, among others.
