Mamta Kulkarni Returns To India After 25 Years; Says 'Back To Motherland' In An Emotional Video

After 25 years abroad, Mamta Kulkarni returns to India, sharing her emotional journey and connection to her roots, while also addressing past controversies.

After a long absence of 25 years, Mamta Kulkarni, renowned for her role in the film "Karan Arjun" alongside Bollywood heavyweights Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, made a heartfelt return to India. Her comeback was marked by an emotional video she posted on Instagram, capturing tearful and nostalgic reaction as she landed in Mumbai. The actress described her overwhelming feelings, sharing how seeing her homeland from the aircraft's window after such a long hiatus brought her to tears, especially as she disembarked at the international airport in Mumbai.

In her Instagram video, Kulkarni delved into her journey, revealing that she left India in 2000 and, after decades, has returned, feeling a profound connection to her roots. She reminisced about attending the Kumbh Mela in 2012 following 12 years of austerity and highlighted her return for another significant event, the Maha Kumbh in 2025. Her post, which resonates with deep emotional currents, read, "back to my motherland after 25 years, attended kumbh mela 2012 after 12 years of austerity, and coming back exactly after 12 years for another maha kumbh 2025."

However, Kulkarni's past has not been without controversy. On April 12, 2016, a narcotics bust by Thane Police led to the seizure of Ephedrine powder valued at over Rs 80 lakh. The discovery implicated Mamta Kulkarni in a larger investigation involving ten arrests and seven wanted individuals, including her. The police alleged that Kulkarni participated in a meeting in Kenya with one of the accused, Vicky Goswami, and others, raising suspicions about her involvement in the drug trade. Kulkarni, through her lawyer Madhav Thorat, challenged these accusations, arguing that they were based on weak evidence and the unreliable statement of a co-accused.

Despite the serious nature of the allegations, the court ultimately found the evidence against Kulkarni insufficient to support charges under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), specifically regarding drug consumption and powers granted to the Central Government. This decision underscored the complexities of legal battles and the importance of solid evidence in prosecuting drug-related offenses.

Kulkarni's return to India and her subsequent public sharing of her emotional journey shine a light on the intricate tapestry of her life, from her cinematic contributions to her legal entanglements and her deep-seated connection to her homeland. Her story, encapsulating both her professional highs and personal lows, offers a glimpse into the multifaceted nature of celebrity lives, navigating through triumphs and trials under the public eye.
