The performances are top notch... #VijaySethupathi delivers a standout performance, he's simply splendid... #KatrinaKaif is terrific, her captivating act is sure to catch the viewers by surprise... #VinayPathak and #SanjayKapoor excel in their respective parts.
#MerryChristmas could've done with faster pacing and slight trimming for an enhanced impact... Also, this film depends entirely on a strong word of mouth, so don't expect fireworks at the #BO on arrival," Taran Adarsh tweeted.
For the uninitiated, Merry Christmas is a thriller film and is releasing in Hindi and Tamil. Interestingly, Merry Christmas marks Sriram Raghavan's debut in Tamil industry. Nayanthara's husband and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan also hailed the film and wrote, "Absolutely awestruck by the outstanding performances from Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif in this superbly written thrilling screenplay from the genius Sriram Raghavan which takes us back to the Alfred Hitchcock times. Pritam's music is another major pillar. The last 30 minutes is just too good! Enjoy it in theatres from Jan 12th! Totaly proud of you makkal selvan Vijay Sethupathi! You just held it all together with effortless ease".
Meanwhile, talking about working with Katrina Kaif, Vijay Sethupathi told Indian Express, "I never expected I'll work with Katrina Kaif. I'm a very big fan of Katrina. I was very happy when I saw her on the first day and I couldn't express (my happiness). She is a very thoughtful actor. She has so many questions. She thinks a lot. She is very dedicated. She comes up with an idea and she is ready to adapt. Even if she can't accept your thoughts, she will listen to you. She will put in a lot of effort to make a scene better. That's why she is in the industry not only because she is beautiful but also because she is sensible. Just on the basis of beauty you can't survive for so long. There should be sense and understanding. I felt it when I was working with her".
