Aliya Fakhri was arrested following the deaths of Edward Jacobs and his friend Anastasia Star Ettienne in a fire in Queens, New York. Authorities allege that Aliya set a two-storey garage ablaze, leading to their deaths from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. She has been denied bail and faces murder charges.

Aliya is currently held at Rikers Island, New York City's largest jail facility. She pleaded not guilty to the charges but could face life imprisonment if convicted.
