The entertainment industry has been witnessing a wave grief and shock at the moment as the legendary ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas is no more with us. It is reported that he passed away of prolonged illness on February 26 at the age of 72. While the nation has been mourning the loss, it is reported that Pankaj Udhas' funeral will take place today between 3 pm to 5 pm in Mumbai's Worli area.

Needless to say, the social media is abuzz with condolence messages. The media reports have also suggested that Pankaj Udhas has died of a prolonged illness and was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital for a week now where he breathed his last. And now, ahead of his funeral, Pankaj Udhas' close friend bhajan king Anup Jalota has revealed the real reason behind the ghazal singer's demise.

Talking to the Indian Express, Anup Jalota stated, "He had pancreatic cancer. I knew this for the last 5 to 6 months, and he stopped talking to me in the last 2-3 months, so I realized that his health was not okay. I feel very sad that this illness took his life".

Meanwhile, several celebs took to social media to mourn Pankaj Udhas' demise as they offered their condolences. Abhishek Bachchan also took to the micro-blogging site Twitter (now X) and wrote, "Very saddened by Pankaj Udhas ji's passing. His demise is an irreplaceable loss to our music world. My sincere condolences to his family and friends in this difficult time. Om Shanti". On the other hand, director Anil Sharma also wrote, "It's highly shocking n sad .. to hear about #pankajudhas ji .. ek sundar sureeli aawaz aur ek behad Achche insaan alvida kaha gaye duniya se .. ishwar unki aatma shanti aur parivaar ko iss apar dukh ko Shane ki shakti de .. RIP".
