Pankaj Udhas Funeral: Here’s When & Where The Legendary Singer’s Last Rites Will Take Place

Legendary Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas, who has won millions of hearts with his soulful voice for over three decades, is no more with us. He breathed his last on February 26 in Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital. He was 72. The news has come as a shock to everyone and sent a wave of grief across the industry. In fact, the social media is abuzz with celebs mourning Pankaj Udhas' demise.

To note, the news of Pankaj Udhas' unfortunate demise was confirmed by his daughter Nayab who wrote, "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness. Udhas Family". Pankaj Udhas' last rites will take place tomorrow (February 27, Tuesday) from 3 to 5 at in the Hindu Crematorium in Worli, Mumbai.

According to media reports, Pankaj wasn't keeping well for a while now and was hospitalised for a week. Pankaj Udhas rose to fame with his song Chitthi aayi hai from the 1986 release Naam and has sung for movies like Mohra, Saajan etc. Pankaj Udhas was conferred with Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award in 2006.

Meanwhile, bhajan singer Anup Jalota shared pics with the late ghazal singer on the micro-blogging site Twitter (now X) and wrote, "Shocking.... Music legend & my Friend #PankajUdhas passes away. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his Family and loved ones during this difficult time."

Abhishek Bachchan also took to the micro-blogging site Twitter (now X) and wrote, "Very saddened by Pankaj Udhas ji's passing. His demise is an irreplaceable loss to our music world. My sincere condolences to his family and friends in this difficult time. Om Shanti".

Manoj Bajpayee has also mourned Pankaj Udhas' demise and wrote, "Saddening!!! Rest in peace Pankaj udhas ji ! Had the privilege of listening to you and getting mesmerised by the sweet texture of your voice and Sur ! ॐ शान्ति उत्तम कलाकार उत्तम इंसान !"
