Manu Bhaker, a 22-year-old female shooter from Haryana, has become the first female shooter from India to win a medal in shooting at Olympics. On Sunday, Manu opened India's medal tally at Paris Olympics 2024 with the prestigious bronze medal in the 10m air pistol event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) and congratulated 22-year-old Manu on her historic win. Modi wrote, "A historic medal! Well done, @realmanubhaker, for winning India's FIRST medal at #ParisOlympics2024! Congrats for the Bronze. This success is even more special as she becomes the 1st woman to win a medal in shooting for India. An incredible achievement! #Cheer4Bharat"

Taapsee Pannu, Anil Kapoor, Preity Zinta and Jackie Shroff among others took to social media and celebrated Manu Bhaker's historic defeat. Taking to her Instagram story, Taapsee wrote, "Opening our Olympic medal tally account with a bronze!!! Congratulations to this fantastic shooter."
