Raj Kundra Pornography Case: ED Raids Shilpa's Husband's House & Offices In Money Laundering Case
The Enforcement Directorate has raided the Mumbai homes and offices of Raj Kundra as part of a money laundering investigation linked to a pornography network. The case highlights exploitation and ethical concerns within the entertainment sector.

On Friday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at the Mumbai residences and offices of Raj Kundra, a prominent businessman and the husband of actress Shilpa Shetty, as part of a money laundering probe connected to his alleged involvement in a pornography network case. In addition to raiding Kundra's properties, the agency extended its search to the premises his associates. These actions come in the wake of allegations against Kundra for his supposed role in producing pornographic content.
Raj Kundra found himself under arrest in June 2021, accused of creating adult films, leading to a two-month jail stint before he was released on bail in September 2021. The Mumbai Police have pinpointed Kundra as the mastermind behind this operation. The discovery of this network followed the Mumbai Police's crackdown on a pornography ring in February 2021, which initially led to five arrests and was followed by four more in subsequent investigations. The investigation revealed that individuals aspiring to break into the movie industry were enticed with film roles but ended up being coerced into performing in adult films.
These shoots, often held in rented spaces across Mumbai, involved deceitful tactics where actors were pressured to act out unforeseen nude scenes under a different pretext than initially agreed upon. Resistance from the actors led to threats and demands to cover the production expenses. The content thus produced found its way onto subscription-based applications, where viewers paid to access the explicit material.
The crux of the Mumbai Police's case against Kundra involved the app HotShots, owned by Kundra's company, which was implicated in the scandal. Authorities seized servers during their search, finding them laden with adult content. Despite Kundra's legal team arguing that he and his IT head, Ryan Thorpe—who was also apprehended—had no direct say in the content uploaded on the platform, the police asserted they had substantial evidence to prove otherwise. Kundra attempted to dismiss the case against him through a discharge application, claiming a lack of decisive evidence, yet the police contested this claim, highlighting a strong case supported by the gathered proof.
The case also brought under scrutiny other notable names in the entertainment industry, including actors Poonam Pandey, Sherlyn Chopra, and Umesh Kamat, all of whom were implicated alongside Kundra and associates of Raj Kundra Films. The ongoing investigation into this network exposes the dark underbelly of exploitation and deceit shadowing parts of the entertainment sector, drawing attention to the urgent need for stringent regulatory measures.
The saga around Raj Kundra's alleged involvement in a pornography network not only sheds light on the exploitative practices within certain entertainment circles but also underscores the challenges in safeguarding individuals' rights in the digital age. As the investigation unfolds, it remains to be seen what further revelations will emerge, marking a significant moment in the fight against illegal and unethical content distribution practices.
