Rashmika Mandanna Deepfake Video Case: Delhi Police Arrests The Accused

A few months ago, a video of Animal actress Rashmika Mandanna made it to the social media in which she was seen wearing a black swimsuit, and entering a lift. The video went viral on social media, and it became the talk of the town. However, the video turned out to be a fake one made with deepfake technology.

After the video went viral, Rashmika had shared a statement on the same on X. She had posted, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused."

"Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can't imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft," the statement further read.

Now, after nearly two months after the video went viral, Delhi Police has arrested the accused. According to ANI, Delhi Police have arrested the main accused who is identified as Eemani Naveen. The 24-year-old is from Andhra Pradesh's Guntur. A laptop and mobile phone have been recovered from him, and the deleted data is also being recovered.

The report claims that he used to run a fan page of Rashmika and to increase he followers he created the deepfake video. Reportedly, he has also created two more fan pages of another two celebrities.

In the past, few months, not just Rashmika, but other celebs have also faced issues due to deepfake technology. Well, Rashmika's face was put on a British influencer's video, and if you look at the video it looked very real. Even Sachin Tendulkar's daughter, Sara Tendulkar, had become the victim of deepfake.
