Stree 2 Actor Abhishek Banerjee Vs Karan Johar Dharma Productions Controversy: Casting director-turned-actor Abhishek Banerjee is riding high on the praises coming his way for his poles-apart performances in 'Stree 2' and 'Vedaa'. While the actor is leaving everyone in splits with his impeccable comic timing in Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao's supernatural horror-comedy, his intense avatar in John Abraham-Sharvari starrer has left fans jaw drop. Amid all the praises, the actor was recently landed in a controversy over his statement on his past encounter with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.

Why Was Abhishek Banerjee Thrown Out Of Karan Johar's Agneepath?

Stree 2 and Vedaa actor Abhishek Banerjee was recently caught up in a controversy after he revealed that he was apparently 'thrown out' of 'Agneepath', bankrolled by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. To note, he was working as a casting director back then.

During his interview with Siddharth Kannan, he stated, "Agneepath se humein nikaal diya tha. Agneepath ki casting hum log kar rahe the baad mein Jogi bhai aaye. Kyu nikal di kyuki woh casting unko pasand nahi aayi, Karan sir ko pasand nahi aayi. Hum log kuch zyada hi Anurag Kashyap-waale actors la rahe the jo unhe pasand nahi aya. Toh unhone bola, 'Nikal jao humari film se!' Hume laga career barbaad, khatam! Dharma se nikal gaye ab ho gaya! But thankfully bach gaye."

Abhishek Banerjee Issues Statement On Dharma Productions Controversy

Soon after this, netizens started bashing Karan Johar over the incident. However, today (August 19), a while back, the Stree 2 actor took to Twitter (now X) and issued an official statement on the ongoing controversy.

Clarifying that the "situation has been completely misrepresented as accusatory", Abhishek explained that actual reason behind their dismissal was they they were "unable to align with the vision of the director Karan Malhotra for Agneepath".

Abhishek further added that he later went on to work with Dharma Productions as a casting director for Ok Jaanu, Kalank, Student Of The year 2 and more.
