Family Confirms The Death Of Zakir Hussain: The legendary tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, 73, was hospitalized in the ICU after experiencing complications with his heart and blood pressure. On Sunday, reports circulated claiming his death. However, his nephew, Ameer Aulia, quickly took to X to clarify that Zakir Hussain had not passed away and urged people to pray for his recovery. Sadly, by Monday morning, Zakir Hussain's family confirmed his passing. Here's what they shared in their statement.

Zakir Hussain reportedly died in a hospital in San Francisco at the age of 73. On Monday morning, Zakir Hussain's family gave a statement to India Today where they confirmed his death. The family said, "Zakir Hussain, one of the world's most transcendent musicians, passed away from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in San Francisco at the age of 73. He leaves behind an extraordinary legacy cherished by countless music lovers around the globe, with an influence that will resonate for generations to come. (sic)"

Bollywood industry mourned the loss of a legendary artist, Zakir Hussain. Kareena Kapoor uploaded a picture on her Instagram story where his father Randhir Kapoor is seen shaking hands with Zakir Hussain. She captioned the photo, "Maestro Forever." Bhumi Pednekar paid tribute to Zakir Hussain saying, "Maestro 🤍 His rhythm will echo in our hearts forever 💔🙏🏽#zakirhussain." Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar, Ritesh Deshmukh, Snup Jalota and many others mourned the death of legendary tabla maestro Zakir Hussain.

Zakir Hussain was born on March 9, 1951, as the eldest son of the renowned tabla maestro Alla Rakha. Throughout his illustrious career, Zakir received numerous prestigious awards, including three Grammy Awards, the National Endowment for the Arts' National Heritage Fellowship, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship, Ratna Sadsya, and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Additionally, he was honored with the Padma Shri in 1988, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2023, recognizing his exceptional contribution to Indian music.
