Ulajh: WIll Janhvi Kapoor Finally Give A Hit Or One More Flop Is On The Cards?

Ulajh: Janhvi Kapoor made her debut with the 2018 release Dhadak. The movie, which was a remake of Marathi film Sairat, was a hit at the box office. But, later due to the pandemic, Janhvi's second film, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl got an OTT release. For her performance in Dhadak, Janhvi had received some positive and some negative reviews from critics as well as from the audiences. But, in Gunjan Saxena and in Ghost Stories, she impressed one and all, and proved that she has a potential.

After the lockdown, one of the first films to release in theatres was Roohi. Despite 50% occupancy, the film got a collection of Rs. 23.25 crore, however, the 2021 release wasn't a hit at the box office.

She was later seen in Good Lucky Jerry which was released on OTT, and in 2022, she was also seen in Mili which got a theatrical release, and it was a disaster. In 2023, she had an OTT release, Bawaal, and after nearly, two years, this year, she had a theatrical release with Mr & Mrs Mahi.

Mr. & Mrs. Mahi also received mixed reviews, and didn't do well at the box office. The film collected Rs. 35.81 crore, and reportedly it was made on a budget of Rs. 40 crore. On papers, after selling the digital and satellite rights maybe the film was a profitable venture for its makes. But, theatrically it failed to make a mark.

Now, Janhvi is gearing up for the release of Ulajh. The movie is directed by Sudhanshu Saria, and also stars some very talented actors like Gulshan Devaiah, Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Tailang, Meiyang Chang, and Adil Hussain. The film's trailer has grabbed the attention, but the question is, will it be a hit at the box office?

There's no doubt that Janhvi is undoubtedly one of the most talented actresses of her generation. But, unfortunately, when it comes to box office, from her four theatrical releases, only one has done well. So, let's wait and watch what will be the fate of Ulajh. The movie is slated to release on 2nd August 2024, and it will be clashing with Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha.

Janhvi Kapoor's Upcoming Movies

Apart from Ulajh, Janhvi has Devara and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari lined up. Devara, which also stars Jr NTR in the lead role, is slated to release on 27th September 2024, meanwhile Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari will release next year.
