Exclusive! Vedaa Actor Kshitij Chauhan Reveals, "I Used To Have John Abraham's Posters When I Was A Kid"

Vedaa Kshitij John 2

Vedaa starring John Abraham and Sharvari has received a mixed response from the critics and has taken a dull opening at the box office. However, the actors are getting good reviews for their performance, and apart from the leads, even the supporting actors have grabbed our attention. One of them is Kshitij Chauhan who plays a baddie in the film.

Filmibeat interacted with Kshitij and spoke to him about the response, experience of working with John and Sharvari and more...

What response are you getting for your performance in Vedaa?

So yes, the film is out now and I've been getting some great reviews and responses for my performance in the film. I think as an actor, when you're playing an antagonist role and you really want people to hate that character because then only you feel that as an actor, your job is accomplished, your job's done. So yes, people are hating my character, so I think the job's done. It all feels great and surreal right now and I love the fact that people are talking about the performance and people are loving the work that I've done.

How was the experience of working with John Abraham and Sharvari?

Working with John Sir and Sharvari was great. It was a lovely experience and I think I couldn't have asked for better co-actors than this for my first film and I'm a big John Abraham fan. I used to have his posters when I was a kid and getting to work with him in my first film is like a dream come true and he's the sweetest. He's so grounded, he's so genuine and he's so considerate about everyone. I mean, it didn't feel like I'm meeting him for the first time and he's a superstar. I had a great time working with him and with Sharvari as well. We used to talk about the fact that this year is going to be hers, her film Munjya was coming, then Vedaa was there and we used to talk about the craft, we used to talk about performances and acting.

There's a scenes where you have to beat up Sharvari. How much nervous you were to do the scene?

Yeah, so that scene with Sharvari was one of the most difficult scenes in the film for me. We had a word about it. I was like, you know, I'll go all out. I would have to get that anger, that frustration. I have to like, get into that zone, and she was also very receptive. She was like, yes, I should feel that humiliation that the character should feel because that's the point where she understands that she has to stand up for herself. So that actually is one of the most difficult scenes. But then, as I said, the bonding between Sharvari was great and we had rehearsed that scene, and I was like, I can't be judging my character. I just need to do it. So I will do it. So, that was my driving force in that scene.

In this film, you play a villain, but what kind of roles do you look forward to?

Yes, I started off my silver screen career with a villainous character and in future I am not apprehensive about playing any character as long as it is an important one; a substantial part. I am a musician also; I am a drummer. So, I would love to play a musician character, I would love to be a part of a film where I can show my drumming talent. I really want that Bollywood makes a Whiplash remake and I am there in the film. So, basically any film where my music talent can also come in. I have also played cricket professionally. So, I would love to play a cricketer on screen as well and I love the Indian Army. So, I would love to play an army officer as well. So, to sum it up, I would love to play a musician or a cricketer or an army guy character that would be like great fun because I love those things personally. So, it would be great if I get to play those characters.

Tell us something about your upcoming projects...

Yes, there are a couple of projects in the pipeline that I am considering. One is a web show and one is a film. But they are at a very initial stage so I can't disclose much about it. So right now I am just focusing on Vedaa. I actually wanted my film to come first and then decide what should I do and what should I not do because I want my filmography to be in a certain way. So yes, right now I am focusing on Vedaa and in background some things are happening. So, once the official statement is out, I am sure everyone would know about it.
