Sahil Khan Arrested In Mahadev Betting App Scam Case

On Sunday (April 28), Bollywood actor Sahil Khan was arrested by Mumbai's Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the Rs 15,000 crores Mahadev betting app scam case. He was detained from a hotel in Jagdalpur, Chattisgarh, and was brought back to Mumbai after the Bombay HC rejected his pre-arrest bail plea.

As per reports, Sahil was arrested after over a 40-hour-long chase game. It was also reported that he kept changing his locations and switched off his mobile phone to evade arrest.

The actor will remain in police custody till May 1, 2024.

Born on November 5, 1976, in Kolkata, Sahil Khan is a Bollywood actor and a fitness enthusiast. He is known for his roles in Bollywood films like 'Style', 'Xcuse Me' 'Aladdin' and more. He rose to fame after appearing in Stereo Nation's music video 'Nachangi Saari Raat'.

How Is Sahil Khan Connected To Mahadev Betting App Scam Case?

Sahil Khan came into the radar after an FIR was registered against him in 2023. A social activist named Prakash Bankar allegedly claimed that several online portals were involved in online betting/gambling on sports and card games like teen patti. Khan was one of the accused in the complaint for allegedly promoting online betting applications, stating that "he was directly connected with an online betting application."

For those unawared, the SIT is currently probing an approximately Rs 15,000 cr-scam linked to the illegal Mahadev betting app, an online platform which is being investigated by ED (Enforcement Directorate) for money laundering and illegal transactions.
