Yesteryear Actress Smriti Biswas Passes Away At 100: In a saddening turn of events, noted yesteryear actress Smriti Biswas passed away yesterday late night (Wednesday, July 3) at the age of 100. As per reports, the veteran actress breathed her last at her 1-BHK rented flat in the Nashik Road area in Mumbai. According to a report published by ETimes, Smriti Biswas' funeral, following Christian rituals, took place today at 10:00 AM.

Smriti Biswas, a well-known name in the Hindi, Bengali and Marathi film industries, passed away yesterday at the age of 100. As per reports, she was dealing old age-related ailments.

On Thursday morning, filmmaker Hansal Mehta took to Instagram and paid tribute to her death. Sharing pics of the yesteryear actress, the director captioned it, "Go away in peace and to a happier place dear Smritiji. Thank you for blessing our lives. RIP Smriti Biswas."

Smriti Biswas, who celebrated her 100th birthday on 17th February 2024, is survived by her two sons - Rajeev and Satyajeet. The yesteryear actress started her career as a child artist at the age of 10 in the Bengali film named 'Sandhya' (1930) and featured in films of iconic filmmakers like Guru Dutt, Mrinal Sen, Raj Kapoor, BR Chopra, Bimal Roy, and V Shantaram. She also went on to star alongside notable actors like Dev Anand and Kishore Kumar to name a few.

Her most memorable appearances include films like 'Chandni Chowk' (1954), 'Raj Kanya' (1955), 'Baap re Baap' (1955), 'Jagte Raho' (1956), 'Sailaab' (1956), 'Taksaal' (1956), 'Dilli ka Thug' (1958), Mrinal Sen's 'Neel Akasher Neechey' (1959) and 'Modern Girl' (1961).

Smriti Ji's last Hindi film was 'Model Girl' (1960). She retired from acting after getting married to filmmaker SD Narang in 1960. After her husband's death, Smriti Biswas Narang moved to Nashik to reside with her sister.
