Zakir Hussain Last Post: Zakir Hussain is all over the headlines today for the most unfortunate reason. The legendary tabla maestro is no more with us. He breathed his last at the age of 73 in a hospital in San Fransisco. According to media reports, Zakir wasn't keeping well for a while and was in the hospital for two weeks now. He died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Zakir is survived by his wife Antonia Minnecola, who is a former Kathak dancer, and their two daughters Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi.

Reportedly, there was a lot of confusion regarding Zakir Hussain's demise as initially, his nephew Ameer Aulia tweeted, "I am Zakir Hussain nephew and he has not passed away. We ask for prayers for my Uncle's health. Can you please remove this misinformation. He is in a serious condition and we ask for all his fans around the world to pray for his health". However, later it was confirmed that Zakir passed away at around 4pm as per San Francisco timings.

As the news of Zakir's demise surfaced online, his last post on Instagram has been breaking the internet. To note, Zakir had shared a beautiful post of autumn trees capturing the changing colour of leaves. The video featured Zakir's voice as he was amazed by the nature's beauty. He had captioned the post as, "Just sharing a wonder moment".

Bollywood Celebs Mourn Zakir Hussain's Demise

Meanwhile, the social media is abuzz with tweets mourning Zakir Hussain's unfortunate demise. Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, AR Rahman wrote, "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. Zakir Bhai was an inspiration, a towering personality who elevated the tabla to global acclaim. His loss is immeasurable for all of us. I regret not being able to collaborate with him as much as we did decades ago, though we had planned an album together. You shall be truly missed. May his family and his countless students worldwide find the strength to bear this immense loss". On the other hand, Kamal Hassan tweeted, "Zakir Bhai ! He left too soon. Yet we are grateful for the times he gave us and what he left behind in the form of his art. Goodbye and Thank you".
