Ustad Zakir Hussain Hospitalized In USA

On Sunday evening (December 15), renowned musician Ustad Zakir Hussain left his fans in deep concern over his health. According to reports, the 73-year-old tabla maestro has been admitted to a hospital in San Francisco, USA, due to 'serious' health ailments. According to a tweet by journalist Pervaiz Alam, the renowned music composer Zakir Hussain's brother-in-law Ayub Aulia has confirmed the news over a phone call to Pervaiz. Ayub has requested Zakir Hussain's fans to keep him in their prayers and wish for his speedy recovery.

Sharing the news on Twitter (now 'X'), journalist Pervaiz wrote, "Ustad Zakir Hussain, Tabla player, percussionist, composer, former actor and the son of legendary Tabla player, Ustad Allah Rakha is not well. He's being treated for serious ailments in a San Francisco hospital, USA, informed his brother in law, Ayub Aulia in a phone call with me. Aulia sahab, based in London, has requested Zakir's followers to pray for his speedy recovery. (sic)"

Born in March 1951, Zakir Hussain was honoured with several prestigious awards over the years including the Padma Shri, the Padma Bhushan, and the Padma Vibhushan along with 51st Grammy Awards among others.
