Actor Rohtas Nain Opens Up About His Role in The Diplomat and His Career Journey

Actor Rohtas Nain, known for his versatile roles in popular shows such as Crackdown, CAT, Gumraah, Luka Chuppi, and Commander Karan Saxena, is all set to showcase his talent in the highly anticipated film The Diplomat, starring John Abraham.

In an exclusive interview, Rohtas shared insights into his preparation for the role of Shokat Ali, a Pakistani police inspector in The Diplomat. He emphasized the importance of physical fitness and mental preparation in his craft. "An actor has to stay physically fit because we can get any kind of role at any time. I work out regularly in the gym and run every morning," he explained. "Mentally, understanding the character's background and what the director wants helps in preparing for the role." Rohtas also expressed gratitude towards his co-stars, mentioning that the big names in the film, including John Abraham, were cooperative, and director Shivam Nair played a key role in helping him understand the character.

Rohtas revealed that playing a police officer, a role he has portrayed before, was an exciting challenge. "The experience of playing a Pakistani policeman was different for me. A policeman's life, regardless of where he is, is never smooth. Whether in Pakistan, India, or anywhere else, they are always on duty, following the rules, no matter the time of day or night," he shared.

Talking about working with John Abraham, Rohtas expressed his admiration for the actor, recalling how he had looked up to him since childhood. "I had seen John in Dhoom and loved his character. To work with him now is truly a dream come true. He is humble, punctual, and a joy to be around, both on and off set."

The shooting conditions also presented challenges for Rohtas. "The most challenging part was acting with someone I had seen in films for years. I had to stay calm and not be nervous. The second challenge was filming in freezing temperatures at 11-12 PM, with the temperature dropping to -3°C. We couldn't wear jackets during the scenes, so it was tough, but these experiences make us stronger as actors," he said.

Reflecting on his career, Rohtas noted the variety of roles he has played. From action-packed web series like Crackdown and Commander Karan Saxena to the more nuanced role in The Diplomat, he feels fortunate to experience different genres and learn from each one. "Every role, every project, teaches you something new. That's what makes being an actor so fulfilling - the constant learning and growth."
