After Mawra, Mahira & Fawad Khan Removed From Raees, Kapoor & Sons Posters Amid Indo-Pak Conflict
Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, and Mawra Hocane have been removed from Hindi film posters. This action follows their anti-India remarks post-Operation Sindoor, reflecting strained cultural exchanges.

Pakistani actors Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, and Mawra Hocane have been removed from Hindi film posters on music platforms. This action follows rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Mahira starred in "Raees," Fawad in "Kapoor & Sons," and Mawra in "Sanam Teri Kasam." Their removal comes after they made anti-India remarks post India's Operation Sindoor.
Operation Sindoor was a response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in 26 deaths. The operation involved Indian forces targeting terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The actors' comments following this operation led to their exclusion from promotional materials.
Social Media Reactions
Harshvardhan had a sarcastic take on Mawra's removal from the "Sanam Teri Kasam" posters. He suggested that Mawra might again think his PR team was responsible. He told Hindustan Times, "No, it's again common sense I assume, weeding is being exercised." This comment came after Mawra accused Harshvardhan of using his exit from "Sanam Teri Kasam 2" as a PR strategy.
Mawra had previously criticised Harshvardhan's departure from the sequel, calling him 'hungry and desperate' for his next project amid the India-Pakistan tensions. This ongoing friction has led to significant changes in how Pakistani artists are represented in Indian media.
Instagram Restrictions
The Instagram accounts of several Pakistani celebrities have been banned in India. These include Hania Aamir, Fawad Khan, Mawra Hocane, Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas, Sajal Aly, and Mahira Khan. When accessed from India, these accounts display a message stating "Account not available in India" due to compliance with a legal request.
Netizens have shown support for these actions on social media platforms. Many users expressed approval of the decision to remove Pakistani actors from Indian film promotions and restrict their social media presence within India.
This situation highlights the impact of political tensions on cultural exchanges between neighbouring countries. The removal of these actors from promotional content reflects the strained relations and ongoing disputes between India and Pakistan.
