Alia Bhatt Former Personal Assistant Arrested Over Finacial Fraud Accusations

According to News18, Alia Bhatt's ex-personal assistant, Vedika Prakash Shetty, has been arrested by the Juhu police over accusations of financial fraud. As the report suggests, Vedika, allegedly embezzled money from her personal account along with her production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions. After getting arrested in Bengaluru, Vedika was produced in court in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Reportedly, Vedika allegedly stole over Rs 76 lakhs from both these accounts. As reported by Zee Media, Vedika would create fake invoices and get Alia's signatures on them, according to the police. Apparently, Vedika was one of Alia's trusted people, so she would sign them without verifying.

As per the same Zee report, Alia's mom and veteran actress Soni Razdan, who is also the director of Eternal Sunshine Productions, filed a complaint at the Juhu Police Station in Mumbai on January 23.

After being on the run for nearly 5 months, the police took Vedika into custody under sections 316 (4) (criminal breach of trust) and 318 (4) (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code. While further investigation is said to be still underway, Vedika will reportedly remain in police custody till July 10 (Thursday).
