Arjun Bewakoof: Makers Announce Their Next Film With Unique 'Ticket-Funded' Model

Arjun Bewakoof Makers Announce Their Next Film With Unique

The makers of the Sanjay Mishra starrer Andaman have officially announced their next venture, Arjun Bewakoof. What sets this project apart is their innovative "ticket-funded" model. Under this model, audiences who purchase tickets for any two films on the platform Open Theatre will directly contribute to the funding of Arjun Bewakoof, creating a collaborative production process with the viewers.

On sharing about the unique revenue model, director Smita Singh shared, "We had to adopt this model because, for our first film Andaman, it was incredibly challenging to build an audience. The film was finally made with immense struggle, but the key is always in how you reach people. Either you have a well-known face, and the audience comes to you, but as an independent filmmaker with new actors, the struggle to get noticed is constant and global. That's why we devised this plan for Arjun Bewakoof. Before the film releases, we aim to bring together an audience of 200,000 people as micro producers. For just Rs. 99, they will not only get to watch two films on Open Theatre but also help us fund our next film featuring newcomers. It's a strategy to build a community-a community dedicated to independent cinema.

Writer and actor Anand Raaj states, "Big star films have their own following, but independent filmmakers don't have that kind of community. We're changing that. We're bringing together 200,000 people who will support and invest in this journey, and we're releasing it on December 25th-no matter what."

He further adds, "Arjun Bewakoof is a suspense thriller with twists and turns that are so unpredictable. Every character is unique, and I can't reveal much. For the first time, the film's audience will also be its producers. This will allow the audience to directly contribute to producing the film. You could say it's the second time this is happening, the first being Shyam Benegal's Manthan, where 500,000 farmers from Gujarat, India contributed ₹2 each to fund this 1976 film. We're following in those footsteps, making cinema with the power of the people."

Previously, Andaman, which is currently streaming on Open Theatre, garnered attention for its strong performances and compelling narrative. The film starred Sanjay Mishra, Rajesh Tailang, and Anand Raaj, and was directed by Smita Singh. Written by Anand Raaj, it was produced under the banner of 8 Pillars Motion Pictures, the same production house behind Arjun Bewakoof.

The makers are excited about this new direction and hope that the unique funding model will resonate with audiences as they look forward to Arjun Bewakoof hitting the screens.
