Deb Mukherjee Death: As the nation is busy celebrating Holi today (March 14, 2025), the tinselvile was shaken by one of the most heartbreaking news. It is reported that filmmaker Ayan Mukerji's father Deb Mukherjee, who was a veteran actor, passed away. He was 83 and breathed his last in Mumbai. The news has sent a wave of shock and grief across the industry and celebs were seen rushing toward Ayan's Mukerji to pay their last respects to the late actor.

While the exact reason behind Deb Mukherjee's unfortunate demise, it is reported that the filmmaker-actor passed away due to age related ailments. He is reportedly survived by wife Amrit Mukherjee, son Ayan Mukerji who is also a filmmaker and daughter Sunita Gowariker who is married to filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker.

Who Is Deb Mukherjee? Is He Related To Kajol?

For the uninitiated, Deb Mukherjee was part of the famous Mukherjee-Samarth family. His father Sashadhar Mukherjee was a renowned producer who produced Love In Shimla and his mother Satidevi happened to be Ashok Kumar and Kishore Kumar's sister. To note, Deb also happened to be Kajol's father Joy Mukherjee's brother

Deb made his debut in the industry with the 1965 release Tu Hi Meri Zindagi and when on to be a part of several movies like Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool, Do Aankhein, Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki, Baaton Baaton Mein etc. He also grabbed eyeballs with his performance in Aamir Khan's Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander. Deb was last seen in Shahid Kapoor starrer 2009 release Kaminey.

Deb Mukherjee's Funeral Details

According to media reports, Deb Mukherjee's funeral will take place at Mumbai's Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu today. The last rites will reportedly take place at 4 PM. The media reports suggested that several celebs like Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt etc are expected to arrive to offer their condolences.
