B-Town Heartthrob Whose Debut Film Got Shelved After Shoot, Lost His Dad At 12 & Now
From facing a huge setback of having his debut film shelved to carving his own niche in showbiz, ruling the OTT game and becoming the ultimate 'green flag' boyfriend material... Rohit Saraf, the Gen Z rom-com star, has come a long way. Born in Nepal, Rohit Suresh Saraf always had a soft corner for dancing since his childhood. After losing his dad at the tender age of 12, Rohit Saraf wanted to become an actor to fulfill his late dad's wish, bringing his dream to life.
Then, a 15-year-old Rohit decided to come to Mumbai and give acting a chance. Talking to Elle India, Rohit said, "I felt a deep desire to fulfil his dreams. When I first started acting, I realised how much I loved it. Once I started performing on camera, I knew there was no turning back. (sic)"
After moving to Mumbai, he started modelling and landed a role in a television show for Channel V. During an old interview, he'd revealed he bagged the lead role in his first feature film after giving multiple rounds of auditions. Titled 'Banana', produced by John Abraham, Rohit had dedicated three months for the shoot but the movie got shelved during the post production stage. Talking to Humans of Bombay, the 28-year-old said, "But during post production, the movie was shelved. For 2 years, I waited but it never saw the light of day. I was left with no opportunities; I even put on 14 kgs. But I refused to go back home-Mom had told my friends & relatives; I didn't want to let anyone down. (sic)"
Finally in 2016, Rohit Saraf made his Bollywood debut as Alia Bhatt's brother 'Kiddo' in Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Dear Zindagi' and won everyone over with his acting skills. After this, there was no turning back for him. From 'Hickhi' to 'The Sky Is Pink', 'Ludo, Rohit became the ultimate 'chocolate boy'. However, it was the Netflix show 'Mismatched' that changed everything for him, earning the tag of 'National Crush'.
On the work front, he will next be seen in Varun Dhawan-Janhvi Kapoor's upcoming Dharma film 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' alongside Sanya Malhotra and Maniesh Paul.
