Border 2: Varun Gets Shoutout from Param Vir Chakra Awardee Hoshiar Singh Dahiya’s Granddaughter

Border 2 is drawing strong attention after the teaser dropped on 16 November, with viewers praising its patriotic tone and scale. The war drama has Varun Dhawan portraying Param Vir Chakra recipient colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya. The film is locked for a theatrical release on 23 January, 2026, just ahead of Republic Day celebrations. The new film continues the Border franchise that started with J.P. Dutta's 1997 hit Border, but comes with a fresh creative team and cast. Anurag Singh directs the sequel, bringing prior experience from Kesari, Punjab 1984, Jatt & Juliet and Dil Bole Hadippa!, while the narrative again centres on frontline courage during conflict.

During the Border 2 teaser launch event, Varun Dhawan highlighted the sacrifices made by India's defence personnel. "Hum civilians bahot lucky hai. Hume pata hi nahi hai wo log kitna tyaag rahe hai humare liye. Hum yaha baithe hi hai unki wajah se. Hum saas le paa rahe hai unki wajah se," Varun said, adding, "We are so lucky to have our Army, Navy and Air Force together."

The family of colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya also reacted to the Border 2 teaser. Granddaughter Anushka Dahiya posted a photograph from the launch, featuring Varun Dhawan and Sunny Deol on stage together. Alongside the frame, Anushka wrote, "We're all very proud & excited for the film. The hard-work, sincerity and josh is truly mirrored in the teaser itself!"
