Is Chakda Xpress Shelved? Anushka Sharma's Co-star Drops Major Update
According to Netflix's announcement, Anushka Sharma-starrer Chakda Xpress was originally scheduled to premiere on the streaming platform in 2023. But then, it was rumoured that the release date had been facing uncertainty after Clean Slate's deal with Netflix ended.
And now, Anushka Sharma's Chadka Xpress co-star Dibyendu Bhattacharya has expressed his confusion over its Netflix release date. Talking to News18 Showsha, the actor said, "You don't know how badly I'm waiting for the film to release because it is a fantastic film." He further added, "I always tell people... I watched it at Prosit's [director Prosit Roy] place. I told him, 'It's not releasing, but since you have it, at least show it to me.' He said it wasn't completely finished, not everything had been done, but I watched it and... it is such a beautiful film."
When the Criminal Justice actor was asked about why the film is getting delayed, he replied, "I have no idea." Explaining further, he added, "If I had any information about the film, I would tell you first. I really don't know because Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other. What's going on between the two, I have no clue."
"As an actor, I really want the film to see the light of day. A lot of hard work goes into making a film. From the day research begins to the final print, it's a long and emotionally invested journey. So many people are involved. So many ambitions ride on one film. Many families run on the income generated through it - technicians, daily wage workers. It's very sad," he was quoted saying.
"I want the film to release immediately," he stated, further stating, "And I'm telling you - it's a fantastic film. A brilliant film. And Anushka's best performance till now."
