Though not a continuation of the 2018 film Dhadak, this sequel carries forward its emotional core. Dhadak 2 is inspired by the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, and adapts its message for a wider Hindi-speaking audience. Dhadak 2 follows the journey of Neelesh and Vidhi - two law students who fall in love while studying in the same college. Their bond, though beautiful, is constantly challenged by the deep-rooted caste divide and societal expectations. Neelesh, played by Siddhant Chaturvedi, is shown as a brave and determined young man who faces discrimination yet never loses his will to fight for justice.

On the other hand, Triptii Dimri plays Vidhi, a girl from an upper-caste family who finds herself torn between love and family honour. Her silent battles and emotional choices add depth to the story and highlight the pressure young women often face in rigid social structures.

Coming at a time when audiences are craving meaningful cinema, especially after the success of films like Saiyaara, Dhadak 2 lands at the perfect moment. The question now is - will it win hearts at the box office and get the critical recognition it deserves?

Filmibeat spoke to trade analyst Rohit Jaiswal to get insights into the economics of Dhadak 2. According to him, the film was made on a budget of around Rs 40 crore. Yes, you read that right!

Talking about the box office target for Dhadak 2, Rohit Jaiswal stated, "For Dhadak 2, anything above Rs 45-50 crore will be considered a hit. Because the budget of this film is not that much, but this film has been delayed a lot. So, for this, a little standard will have to come. That too, there is Triptii Dimri in it. Because nowadays, even small films do Rs 30-35 crore business. So there is Triptii Dimri, Siddhant Chaturvedi is a known actor, plus the banner is big. So, for that, if there is a collection of 45-50 crores in India, then it will be a clear hit."

As per his prediction, the movie is likely to mint around Rs 3 crore on the opening day (August 1).
