Dino Morea Under Scanner? Mumbai Police Questions Actor in Rs 65-Crore Mithi River Scam Case

Dino Morea Controversy: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police recently interrogated actor Dino Morea concerning a Rs 65-crore scam linked to the Mithi river cleaning project. This questioning took place at the EOW office within the Mumbai Police Headquarters after Morea's name surfaced during the investigation.

The case revolves around the alleged misappropriation of funds exceeding Rs 65 crore, which were initially designated for cleaning the Mithi River. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) from the EOW is actively investigating this scam, which reportedly caused a financial loss of over Rs 50 crore to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

On May 3, an FIR was lodged by the SIT against 13 individuals, including contractors and civic officials, in connection with this scam. Searches were conducted at various locations associated with those accused. The FIR names five contractors, three middlemen, and two company officials among others.

Allegations suggest that BMC officials manipulated the tender process for a desilting contract to favour a specific machinery supplier. Additionally, it is claimed that contractors submitted fake bills for transporting sludge out of Mumbai.
