Disha Salian Death Case: Bombay HC To Hear Disha Salian's Father's Plea For Fresh Investigation On April 2

The Bombay High Court is set to hear a petition for a new investigation into Disha Salian's death on April 2, 2025. This case, alongside the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, has attracted significant public attention and political involvement.

In a significant development from New Delhi, the Bombay High Court has scheduled a hearing for the writ petition regarding the death of Disha Salian on April 2, 2025. The petition, initiated by Disha's father, Satish Salian, seeks a new investigation into the circumstances surrounding his daughter's death on June 8, 2020. Disha Salian tragically lost her life after a fall from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad district. This case has been a topic of public interest, especially considering the subsequent death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput just days later, on June 14, 2020, which has also been subject to extensive investigation.

In connection with the request for a renewed investigation, Maharashtra's junior home minister, Yogesh Kadam, addressed the legislative assembly, asserting that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) examining Disha Salian's death will expedite its efforts. Kadam's commitment came in response to inquiries from both BJP and Shiv Sena MLAs regarding the timeline for the SIT's findings. This push for acceleration in the investigation underscores the government's stance of impartiality, with Kadam affirming that "no one will be spared" in the pursuit of justice.

"Had the state also been made party to it. So once we get directions from HC, we will take stern and appropriate action. The law is the same for all, we will not spare anyone," Kadam emphasized, highlighting the state's resolve to ensure a thorough and fair investigation. This statement was made following a demand by opposition members for a new probe into Disha's death and the "custodial interrogation" of Aaditya Thackeray, indicating the politicization of the case. This request was notably championed by BJP MLA Ameet Satam, alongside support from Sena MLA Arjun Khotkar and Sena minister Shambhuraje Desai, reflecting a bipartisan concern for the case's handling.

Satish Salian's approach to the Bombay High Court underlines a family's quest for answers in the tragic loss of their daughter. The Mumbai Police had initially filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) following Disha's demise. However, the subsequent death of Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found in his Bandra apartment under mysterious circumstances, has led to increased scrutiny and calls for a more comprehensive investigation into both cases. In response to these developments, Advocate Faizan Merchant, representing Sameer Wankhede, has announced plans to submit a detailed affidavit to the High Court, addressing all concerns related to his client in the case.

The convergence of demands for a fresh investigation by Disha Salian's father, the engagement of political figures, and the legal proceedings in the Bombay High Court signifies a complex interplay of justice, political interest, and public intrigue. The court's upcoming hearing in 2025 is anticipated to be a pivotal moment in untangling the events leading to Disha Salian's untimely death and, potentially, shedding light on the broader context involving Sushant Singh Rajput's case.
