Don 3 Update: Ranveer Singh's much-anticipated film, Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar, is finally set to commence shooting in January 2026. Initially announced in August 2023, the film has experienced several delays. Kiara Advani was initially confirmed as the female lead, but recent reports indicate Priyanka Chopra will also join the cast. This marks a reunion for Ranveer and Priyanka, who previously co-starred in films like Gunday and Bajirao Mastani.

According to Bollywood Hungama, a source revealed that the delay was unavoidable due to significant online backlash against Ranveer stepping into Shah Rukh Khan's iconic role. The source stated, "Ranveer also needed time to physically and mentally prepare for the role, which requires rigorous martial arts training." Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer mutually agreed to pause until the situation calmed down.

Challenges Faced by Cast and Crew

The production faced further setbacks when Kiara Advani became pregnant after signing on to replace Priyanka Chopra as the female lead. This change in circumstances led to a halt in progress. Additionally, Farhan Akhtar had his own acting commitments with the intense war film 120 Bahadur, where he plays Major Shaitan Singh.

Priyanka Chopra's potential return as Roma in Don 3 has been speculated upon, but an official confirmation is still awaited. The original Don featured Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Boman Irani in key roles. Released in 2006, it won Best Asian Film at the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival.
