Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on Thursday criticised the protests around the film "Phule", a biopic on social reformers Jyotirao and Savitribai Phule, questioning why films depicting caste issues get banned in India. The director also criticised the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for modifications suggested to "Phule". The biopic, featuring Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa in the roles of the reformist couple, was set for release last week but it will now arrive in theatres on April 25. After the trailer of "Phule" was unveiled online on April 10, some members from the Brahmin community raised objections stating that they’ve been portrayed in poor light. In a series of post on Instagram, Kashyap said the very first play of his career was based on the lives of Jyotiba and Savitribai Phule. “If casteism didn’t exist in this country, why did they need to fight against it?" The makers of "Phule" on April 7 received a ‘U’ certificate from the censor board, which had asked them to make changes like removing terms such as ‘Mang’, ‘Mahar’ and ‘Peshwai’.

In a fresh controversy surrounding actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay, the All India Muslim Jamaat has issued a fatwa urging Muslims in Tamil Nadu to distance themselves from the popular star. The move follows allegations that Vijay disrespected Islamic traditions during an Iftar gathering held in Chennai. The fatwa, issued by Shahabuddin Razvi, president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, cites Vijay's conduct at the Iftar event as the primary trigger. In a statement, Shahabuddin Razvi alleged that individuals known for engaging in activities like drinking and gambling were invited to the gathering, which he described as a serious breach of religious decorum. He went on to claim that Vijay's actions amounted to desecration of the sacred event, calling it a "sin."

Kim Soo Hyun is revealed to have not paid the amount of 38 KRW billion for the damage suit filed against Kim Sae Ron's family and the CEO of Garosero Research Institute, Kim Se-eui. Actor Kim Soo Hyun initially claimed that he would file a lawsuit worth 12 KRW billion. However, the amount the claim received was of 11 KRW billion. Therefore, the court asked the actor and his agency to correct the error and ordered the legal fees to be based as per based on 12 KRW billion. As of April 16's report, Kim Soo Hyun's agency submitted an application in the report asking to extend the correction deadline for their 12 KRW billion lawsuit against late actress Sae Ron's family and Garosero. On April 17, Kim Soo Hyun's legal team addressed the ongoing controversy. They said to Mail Business Star that "the application for extension of the 16th is for the normal address correction (sic)."
