Exclusive! Mumtaz Breaks Silence On Her Alleged Rivalry With Sharmila Tagore

Recently, 'A se Aadii' from Filmibeat Prime sat down with the legendary Mumtaz for an exclusive chit-chat session in which she got candid about her personal life. From her relationship with Shammi Kapoor to her marriage with husband Mayur Madhvani, Madhubala and her hit pairing with Rajesh Khanna, the 77-year-old gracefully answered to all of them. In the interview, she also addressed the much-talked-about so-called rivalry with her contemporary actress Sharmila Tagore.

Talking about the decades-old speculations about her alleged rivalry with Tagore, the actress cleared the air and said, "Main Sharmila Tagore se kabhi mili hi nahi hu life mein. I don't know why people made up this."

Continuing further, she added, I want to ask them.. aap jo bechari Sharmila aur Mumtaz ke peeche jo pare hai, aapko aisa kaunsa mauka mila that jisse aap ko laga ki unki banti nahi hai. Jhooth bolte hai sab and I don't know why. We had hardly worked together. Whenever we meet, we always say hi/hello to each other, which is very rare because I don't go to sets or visit them when they are shooting."

"Invitations mei bhi I accept 2 or 3 invitations out of 50. I don't go to every party, I don't even go to every show. So I mean I don't, I would request all of you who are watching to just ask people why they say Mumtaz and Sharmila didn't get along. Show me one reason then I agree. Everyone would day there were issues between us because of our pairing with Rajesh Khanna. I was friends with Rajesh Khanna because we had chemistry and we would talk before going for takes," Mumtaz Ji added.
