Umair Sandhu, who claims to be a member of the Overseas Censor Board, wrote a scathing review for Ground Zero. His tweet read, "First Review: #GroundZero Another Fake Propaganda film on #Kashmir. B Grade Action Thriller with Flop actor #EmraanHashmi. He will never come back !!! Back-to-Back Disasters by him. Poor Story, Performances & Direction. Skip it & Save your Money (sic)."

If Ground Zero performs well, it will impact the performance of Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari Chapter 2 and Sunny Deol's Jaat at the box office.

Ground Zero has been directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar. The action thriller focuses on the story of BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey. For the unversed, Dubey led the operation in which terrorist Rana Tahir Nadeem (Ghazi Baba) was killed in 2003.

While Emraan Hashmi plays the lead role, the likes of Sai Tamhankar and Zoya Hussain are seen in key roles.
