Hera Pheri 3 Controversy: Will Pankaj Tripathi REPLACE Paresh Rawal As Baburao? Here's What He Said

Paresh Rawal's exit from Hera Pheri 3 has left fans reeling. Pankaj Tripathi deemed unfit to replace him while legal issues with the production arise.

Hera Pheri 3 Controversy: Paresh Rawal's unexpected decision to leave Hera Pheri 3 has left fans in shock. His portrayal of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte is cherished by many, making his departure a significant blow. Amidst this news, speculation arose about Pankaj Tripathi potentially stepping into Rawal's shoes for Priyadarshan's eagerly anticipated film.

However, Pankaj Tripathi recently addressed these rumours in an interview. He expressed admiration for Rawal, stating, "I read and heard about fans wanting me to play that part. I don't think I can do it. Paresh Sir is an extraordinary actor, and I am nothing in front of him. I respect him immensely, and I don't think I am the right person for the job," he told Bollywood Hungama.

Baburao's Iconic Status

Baburao, affectionately called Babu Bhaiya, remains one of Bollywood's most beloved comic characters. Rawal's performance in Hera Pheri (2000) brought the character to life with memorable lines like "Utha le re deva" and a unique charm that continues to resonate with audiences even decades later.

On May 18, Rawal announced his departure from Hera Pheri 3 on his official X account. He clarified that his decision wasn't due to creative differences with the filmmakers. "I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER . I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director," he stated.

Legal Complications Arise

Despite his clarification, Rawal found himself entangled in legal issues following his exit. Akshay Kumar's production company, Cape of Good Films, issued a legal notice demanding Rs 25 crore for what they termed as an abrupt departure. The production house alleged that Rawal had been paid Rs 11 lakh and had not voiced any concerns during his involvement with the project.

The production team further claimed that Rawal's withdrawal was 'abrupt, unilateral, and mala fide.' They highlighted that filming for the Hera Pheri 3 teaser began on April 3, 2025, with over three minutes of footage featuring Rawal already shot. Additionally, he had participated in creative discussions alongside Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty.

The situation surrounding Paresh Rawal's exit from Hera Pheri 3 remains complex. While fans are disappointed by his departure from such an iconic role, the legal disputes add another layer of intrigue to this unfolding story.
