Ibrahim Ali Khan On Nepo Backlash Faced By Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday & Janhvi Kapoor: No Matter How Good...

Ibrahim Ali Khan reflects on his recent acting debut in 'Nadaaniyan' and the evolving discussion around nepotism in Bollywood, highlighting intensified scrutiny of star kids and support from Priyanka Chopra.

Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan, recently made his acting debut with Khushi Kapoor in the film "Nadaaniyan," which premiered on Netflix in March. Despite the excitement surrounding his entry into Bollywood, Ibrahim faced criticism for his performance. Reflecting on this experience, he noted a shift in public perception towards star kids, contrasting it with the enthusiasm seen during debuts of actors like Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor.

In an interview with GQ India, Ibrahim discussed how he first noticed the changing attitudes towards nepotism when his sister Sara Ali Khan entered the industry alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Ananya Panday. He observed that they quickly became subjects of criticism. Although nepotism has long been a part of Bollywood, he believes that scrutiny has intensified in recent times.

Nepotism Debate Intensifies

Ibrahim shared that he had hoped to enter the film industry sooner but realised that anyone from a film family would face backlash regardless of their talent. He was mentally prepared for criticism but was surprised by its severity. The young actor acknowledged that this is now a reality for those with a film background looking to debut as actors.

During the same interview, Ibrahim revealed receiving encouragement from Priyanka Chopra after she watched "Nadaaniyan." She sent him a supportive message, saying she saw potential in him and advised him to develop resilience. "Priyanka Chopra sent me a very sweet message saying she watched the film and thinks I have a bright future," he shared.

Words of Encouragement

Priyanka's message included advice to maintain confidence and perseverance despite challenges. She emphasised the importance of having thick skin in the industry. Ibrahim found her words comforting and motivating, especially coming from someone as accomplished as Priyanka Chopra. Her support provided him with reassurance during this challenging period.

The conversation around nepotism continues to evolve within Bollywood, affecting newcomers like Ibrahim Ali Khan. As he navigates his career, he remains aware of the heightened scrutiny faced by star kids today compared to previous generations.
