It was up against Germany's "Herrhausen: The Banker and the Bomb," the UK's "Lost Boys and Fairies," and Chile's "Vencer o Morir (Victory or Death)." The award ultimately went to the British drama "Lost Boys and Fairies," which depicts a gay couple's journey to adopt a child.

For the Best Actor category, Diljit Dosanjh was nominated alongside David Mitchell for "Ludwig," Oriol Pla for "Yo, adicto (I, Addict)," and Diego Vasquez for "One Hundred Years of Solitude." Spanish actor Oriol Pla won the award for his portrayal of a recovering drug addict, delivering a heartfelt performance that resonated with audiences.

"Amar Singh Chamkila" is a biopic on the late Punjabi singer, who was tragically killed in the 1980s. Diljit Dosanjh played Chamkila, while Parineeti Chopra portrayed his wife and collaborator, Amarjot Kaur.
