Jiah Khan Death Case: Sooraj Pancholi's life took a dramatic turn on June 3, 2013, when actress Jiah Khan was discovered dead at her Mumbai home. At that time, Sooraj was preparing for his Bollywood debut but found himself accused of encouraging Jiah's suicide. This accusation led to a decade-long legal battle, which concluded in 2023 with a CBI Special Court acquitting him due to insufficient evidence.

Zarina Wahab, Sooraj's mother and a veteran actress, recently discussed her son's emotional struggles and the circumstances surrounding Jiah's death. In an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, Zarina clarified that Sooraj and Jiah were not in a relationship when she passed away.

Emotional Struggles and Misunderstandings

Zarina shared insights into the emotional turmoil Sooraj faced after Jiah's passing. She explained that many people misunderstood the situation between Sooraj and Jiah. "I want to clear one thing that a lot of people think about Sooraj. When they (Jiah and Sooraj) were friends, Salman was launching him. Then I told him that Salman is going to launch you, (so) stop (this)! Then he went and told her, my parents don't want us to meet and your mother also doesn't want us to meet. So let's break up. Then she said, 'can I come and meet you sometimes?' So he told her, 'you can come and meet me as a friend but not as a girlfriend.' The incident happened a month before their breakup. No one knows about this."

According to Zarina, Jiah had been feeling low after being rejected for a Telugu film role that eventually went to Rakul Preet Singh. Despite this setback, Sooraj sent her flowers when she mentioned trying her luck in the South film industry.

Jiah's Final Attempts to Reach Out

On the day of Jiah's death, Zarina revealed that she attempted to contact Sooraj but couldn't reach him due to his busy schedule with classes related to shooting. "She was so depressed that she was trying to call Sooraj. But his classes were going on because of some shooting. He couldn't take her call," Zarina said.

Later, when Sooraj checked his phone, he texted Jiah saying he was available if she wanted to talk. Tragically, by then it was too late as she had already passed away. Zarina expressed frustration over the misconceptions surrounding the incident: "And now everyone says he did this, he did that… It's so wrong."

The Impact on Sooraj

Zarina emphasised how deeply affected her son was by these events and the subsequent misunderstandings. "Whatever happened, it wasn't good," she stated while acknowledging how challenging it is to clarify things for everyone involved.

Despite facing immense pressure from public opinion during this period of grief for both families involved in such tragic circumstances; Zarina concluded by highlighting how much pain her son endured throughout this ordeal without fully understanding what truly transpired between them: "The poor girl was really sweet," she added solemnly.
