Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 Shooting Updates: Renowned director Nag Ashwin pulled a star-studded massive casting coup for the highly-anticipated mythological science-fiction drama 'Kalki 2898 AD' and created a havoc at the box office. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, the pan-India film is gearing up for its much-awaited sequel. Amidst the growing excitement, director Nag Ashwin has dropped the biggest update about Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 that will surely send shockwaves of excitement among fans.

Kalki 2898 AD (Part 1) Total Box Office Collection

Set in an dystopian Kasi, Kalki 2898 AD was inspired by the Hindu epic and the story revolved around the 'modern-day' avatar of Lord Vishnu. Mounted on a huge budget of Rs 600 cr, Kalki 2898 AD was a visual spectacle that went on to become the second highest-grossing Indian film in 2024.

Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in the lead, the high-budget sci-fi actioner also boasted a dynamic line-up of cameos of Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur and Vijay Deverakonda. Released on 27th June 2024, the film ended its theatrical journey with a total net collection of Rs 653.21 cr approximately. As per reports, the film had grossed around Rs 1,027-1,200 crore globally.

Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 Shooting Update: When Will The Sequel Go On Floors

Previously, it was speculated that the magnum opus Kalki 2898 AD sequel was reported to go on floors in summer 2025 but got delayed because of its female lead Deepika Padukone. The actress welcomed her first child with Ranveer Singh, a baby girl, on 8th September 2024, and took a maternity break, prioritizing her daughter over her work.

Now, the sequel to Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD is being planned to take on floors in December this year. Yes, you read that right! That means, new mom Deepika Padukone is likely to resume her work post maternity break by the end of this year.

Director Drops Biggest Update About Kalki 2898 AD Part 2

During the 10th year celebration of Nag Ashwin's directorial debut, the filmmaker dropped the biggest update about the sequel. Reacting to Prabhas' limited screen time in the first part, Ashwin assured his fans that the sequel will have more of Prabhas.

"The second part will have more of Prabhas, as it will primarily revolve around the characters of Karna and Ashwatthama, (sic)" the director was quoted saying as per news 18.

According to an ABP report, Prabhas and Nag Ashwin had previously mentioned during a live Instagram session that Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 might take 3 years to complete.
