Sunjay Kapur's death has ignited family disputes regarding his business, Sona Comstar. His mother claims coercion in ownership matters while Karisma Kapoor seeks a share.

Sunjay Kapur Death Update: Following the tragic death of Sunjay Kapur on June 12, 2025, his Rs 30,000 crore business empire has been engulfed in disputes and uncertainties. According to a Free Press Journal report, Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay's ex-wife, is seeking a share of the company. However, she has not publicly commented on these claims yet.

Family Disputes Over Sona Comstar

Sona Comstar, Sunjay's company, has been shaken by recent events. After his passing, Sunjay's mother, Rani, asserted her majority stake in the Sona Group and its associated estate. She also shared a letter with shareholders alleging coercion during her time of mourning.

"I've been informed that certain people are representing themselves as being the largest shareholders of the Company since they claim to represent the interest of the family in the Company. I am fully convinced that the documents which were executed by me under coercion and duress, post the demise of my son, at a time of mental and emotional vulnerability, are being misused," her letter read.

Karisma and Sunjay's Tumultuous Past

Karisma Kapoor married Sunjay Kapur in 2003 but their relationship ended in a contentious divorce in 2016. During their separation, Karisma accused Sunjay and his mother of domestic violence. She also claimed that Sunjay forced her into uncomfortable situations during their honeymoon.

Sunjay countered these allegations by accusing Karisma of marrying him for financial gain. Despite their differences, they share two children: Samaira and Kiaan. Following their divorce, Karisma was awarded full custody of both children.

Financial Settlements Post-Divorce

As part of their divorce settlement, a property in Mumbai previously owned by Sunjay's father was transferred to Karisma. Additionally, Sunjay secured bonds worth Rs 14 crore each for Samaira and Kiaan. These bonds provide an annual payout of Rs 10 lakh to ensure financial security for both children.

The unfolding drama surrounding Sona Comstar continues to capture attention as stakeholders navigate through legal complexities and familial tensions following Sunjay Kapur's untimely demise.
