Manasi Parekh on Shubhchintak: “I Want to Keep Pushing Boundaries in Gujarati Cinema”

Actress and singer Manasi Parekh, a National Award winner for her acclaimed performance in Kutch Express, has successfully balanced both her acting and singing careers. Known for her memorable roles in Uri and Gujarati films like Golkeri, Ittaa Kittaa, and Jhamkudi, Manasi is now set to appear in the upcoming Gujarati film Shubhchintak. This film marks the Gujarati debut of popular Marathi actor Swwapnil Joshi.
In an exclusive interview, Manasi opened up about what drew her to Shubhchintak and her role as Meghana. She shared, "As an actor, I want to keep experimenting with new roles and concepts, push boundaries, especially in Gujarati cinema, where people often believe only family films and dramas work. But when Shubhchintak came my way, the idea of a girl honey-trapping a guy, taking him on a date, and actually kidnapping him for ransom was so interesting. The whole story felt very fresh. I hadn't seen something like this in Hindi or Gujarati cinema. When we heard the narration, we knew it was a film that had to be made. Meghana, the character I play, has a lot of backstory that explains why she does what she does, and that really pulled me into the project."
When asked what audiences can expect, she added, "It's very thrilling, you won't want to leave your seat because something new and unexpected happens every moment. The characters are fresh, very different from what we usually see. The script by Kapil Sahetya, Viraf Patell, and Chetan Daiya is beautifully written, and Nisarg Vaidya has directed it amazingly. We've also tried something unique with the background score, making it very thematic to the story. We've really pushed ourselves to elevate the technical and creative aspects at every level."
Shubhchintak also stars Viraf Patell, Deep Vaidya, Ekta Kansara, Tusharika Rajyaguru, and Mehul Bhuj. The film is produced under Soul Sutra, the production house of Parthiv Gohil and Manasi Parekh.
