Manoj Kumar Funeral: The Bollywood industry woke up to a big shock this morning as veteran actor Manoj Kumar breathed his last on April 4. The legendary actor was 87 and the news sent down a wave of grief across the industry. According to media reports, Manoj Kumar, who was hospitalised for a few weeks now, breathed his last at around 3:30 am at Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He died of age related issues and his demise was confirmed by filmmaker Ashoke Pandit.

Ashoke Pandit stated, "The legendary Dadasaheb Phalke award winner, our inspiration and the 'lion' of the Indian film industry, Manoj Kumar Ji is no more...It is a great loss to the industry and the entire industry will miss him". To note, Manoj Kumar, who was born as Harikrishan Giri Goswami in Abbottabad (now in Pakistan), is survived by wife Shashi Goswami and sons, Kunal Goswami and Vishal Goswami.

As Manoj Kumar breathed his last on April 4, there have been speculations about the late actor's last rites date. While talking to News18, Manoj Kumar's son Kunal Goswami stated that Manoj Kumar's funeral will take place in Mumbai on April 5. He confirmed that the last rites will take place in the morning on Saturday.
For the uninitiated, Manoj Kumar is known for his roles in movies Hariyali Aur Rasta, Patthar Ke Sanam, Kranti, Upkar, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, Purab Aur Paschim, etc. He was last seen in 1995 release Maidan-E-Jung. The legendary actor was honoured with Padma Shri in 1992and Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2016.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned Manoj Kumar's demise and tweeted, "Deeply saddened by the passing of legendary actor and filmmaker Shri Manoj Kumar Ji. He was an icon of Indian cinema, who was particularly remembered for his patriotic zeal, which was also reflected in his films. Manoj Ji's works ignited a spirit of national pride and will continue to inspire generations. My thoughts are with his family and admirers in this hour of grief. Om Shanti."
