The Masti series is back with its fourth instalment, but not everyone is thrilled. The trailer for Masti 4, released on Tuesday after a brief delay has sparked mixed online. While some fans are excited about the return of the franchise, others have criticised it for being "cheap" and "vulgar." A particular post by a woman on X (formerly Twitter) even caught the attention of the film's director, Milap Zaveri.

Milap Zaveri responded to the backlash by urging viewers not to judge the film solely based on its trailer. He stated, "Mam pls do see the film. You may be pleasantly surprised. Women have a v strong role and POV (sic)." This was in response to criticism regarding the film's tone and portrayal of women.

Masti 4 Trailer Sparks Debate

The trailer features original cast members Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, and Riteish Deshmukh alongside newcomers Nargis Fakhri, Arshad Warsi, and Tusshar Kapoor. However, a segment of social media users quickly reacted negatively to it. One woman questioned how the actors could face their female family members after participating in such films.

She expressed her disapproval by writing, "How do they face the females in their house after doing such films, you will never know (sic)." In another post, she sarcastically remarked that if disgust were a genre, this trailer would top it.

Online reactions have been largely negative, with many criticising the humour and tone of the trailer. Comments like "Funny to kuch nhi h bs vulgarity bhari padi hai (sic)" and "Very cheap (sic)" reflect viewers' disappointment. The Masti franchise began in 2004 with its first film becoming a box office success. Its sequel, Grand Masti (2013), also performed well commercially. However, Great Grand Masti (2016) did not fare as well due to an online leak before its release.

Directed by Milap Zaveri, Masti 4 includes additional cast members Ruhii Singh, Shreya Sharma, Elnaaz Norouzi, Shaad Randhawa, Nishant Singh Malkani, and Natalia Janoszek. The film is set to hit theatres on November 21, 2025.
