Operation Sindoor Film Controversy | Co-Director Nitin Kumar Gupta Breaks Silence: A Bold New Chapter...

Operation Sindoor Film Controversy: In the wake of national emotions running high, Writer-Director Dr. Nitin Kumar Gupta has broken his silence regarding his upcoming feature film Operation Sindoor, following today's announcement of a ceasefire.
The film, directed by Uttam Maheshwari and announced Friday night on social media, is being produced by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films in collaboration with The Content Engineer. The announcement was accompanied by a striking poster featuring a woman soldier clad in combat gear, signaling a powerful new narrative in Indian cinema.
"In times when the nation holds its breath and emotions run high, the role of art becomes more than just storytelling-it becomes a responsibility," said Dr. Gupta in his first public statement about the project. "While I initially declined all interview requests, I now feel it is time to share the heart behind Operation Sindoor."
Operation Sindoor was conceived not in reaction to recent events, but as a long-standing vision. The film centers on the journey of ordinary women, marked by personal tragedy, who rise to become formidable warriors. It is not a war documentary but an action-packed spectacle infused with emotional depth and driven by themes of feminine strength, justice, and resilience.
"This is not about revenge-it's about resurrection," added Dr. Gupta. "These women are not just characters-they are symbols of what it means to reclaim dignity and rise when the world expects you to fall."
Dr. Nitin Kumar Gupta is no stranger to challenging cinematic conventions. His film L.A.C. was India's first single-shot action movie, dramatizing the Galwan Valley battle and filmed under extreme conditions in Kargil. He also directed Walk, a powerful narrative capturing the struggles of migrant workers during the COVID-19 lockdown, which won over 60 international awards.
Despite setbacks, including actor Rahul Roy suffering a brain stroke during the filming of L.A.C., Gupta's resolve never wavered. He stood by Roy through his recovery, later directing him again in Walk.
Dr. Gupta's portfolio also includes Sayonee (2020), a musical action drama shot in Russia and Dubai. It featured the iconic song "Sayonee" by Pakistani band Junoon, reimagined by Arijit Singh, and was one of the first Indian films to release theatrically after the COVID-19 lockdown.
With Operation Sindoor, Dr. Gupta aims to redefine the traditionally male-dominated action genre by placing women at the forefront. "This film will bring heart-pounding action and emotional storytelling together in a way Indian audiences haven't seen before. We hope it marks the beginning of a new era."
In a cinematic landscape often dominated by spectacle alone, Operation Sindoor seeks to balance adrenaline with heart. "Cinema, at its best, helps us process, remember, and understand our shared experiences," Gupta noted. "Sometimes, it tells these stories through raw power, grit, and explosions-and this film will do just that."
