Pak Actress Humaira Asghar’s Father Refuses To Claim Her Body After Death: We Cut Off Ties With...
Humaira Asghar Ali, a Pakistani actress, was found dead in her Karachi apartment. Her estranged family has refused to claim her body, leading to external arrangements for her burial.

Humaira Asghar Ali, a Pakistani actress and model, was discovered deceased in her Karachi apartment on July 8. Her body was found in an advanced state of decomposition. The police entered the flat after the landlord sought eviction due to unpaid rent. The apartment was locked from the inside, indicating no immediate signs of foul play.
Authorities are awaiting a postmortem report to confirm the cause of death, though initial findings suggest it may not be a homicide. Humaira had been living alone and had stopped paying rent earlier this year. Her death likely occurred nearly two weeks before her body was discovered.
Family's Response and Burial Arrangements
In a distressing development, Humaira's father, Dr Asghar Ali, has refused to claim her body. He stated that the family severed ties with her long ago and would not take responsibility for her remains. "We have cut off ties with her long ago. Do whatever you want with her body. We will not receive it," he reportedly told officials.
The Sindh culture department has offered to manage Humaira's burial and funeral arrangements due to the absence of any family willing to take responsibility. Additionally, actors Yashma Gill and Sonya Hussayn have reportedly volunteered to assist with the burial arrangements for the late model-actress.
Police Investigation
The Gizri police arrived at Humaira's residence around 3:15 pm following a court order prompted by the landlord's request for eviction. When there was no response at the door, officers forced entry and discovered Humaira's decomposed body inside.
Police initially contacted Humaira's brother through phone records but were directed to speak with her father instead. Authorities plan one final attempt to persuade him to perform last rites according to their traditions before considering the body heirless for burial.
