Palash Muchhal-Smriti Mandhana Wedding Delayed After Cricketer’s Father Suffers Health Scare Amid Festivities
Smriti Mandhana has postponed her wedding to Palash Muchhal after her father's health deteriorated. The couple prioritises family health during this challenging time.

Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal have postponed their wedding indefinitely. This decision came after Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, fell ill and was taken to a hospital in Sangli. The ceremony was initially set for November 23 in Maharashtra. Smriti's manager confirmed that she chose not to proceed with the wedding amid the family health crisis.
"Today morning, when he was having breakfast, his health started deteriorating. We waited for a bit to see if he would recover, but his health started to worsen. We didn't want to take any risk. We called an ambulance immediately, and he was rushed to the hospital," manager Tuhin Mishra told India Today on Sunday afternoon. "He is under observation now."
Wedding Festivities Postponed
The wedding was planned as a private event with only close friends and family attending. The celebrations had already begun with traditional Indian rituals, including Mehendi, Haldi, and Sangeet. A light-hearted cricket match between the bride's and groom's teams was also arranged, adding fun to the festivities.
Several teammates of Smriti, such as Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav, Shafali Verma, Arundhati Reddy, Shivali Shinde, and Richa Ghosh, were present. They joined in the joy, with a viral video showing Smriti dancing with them during the Haldi ceremony. This captured the vibrant and festive mood of the occasion.
Engagement Revelations
Smriti had previously announced her engagement to Palash through a lively Instagram reel. This featured her dancing with her Indian teammates to "Samjho Ho Hi Gaya" from the film Lage Raho Munna Bhai. The routine included Jemimah, Shreyanka, Radha, and Arundhati, making the announcement cheerful and exciting.
The day after, Palash shared a video from Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium, where he proposed to Smriti. Blindfolded, she was led to the pitch where Palash went down on one knee. This stadium holds significance as the venue of India’s Women’s World Cup victory.
Cricketer's World Cup Success
Smriti's engagement followed her outstanding performance in the World Cup. She scored 434 runs in nine innings, averaging 54.25 with a strike rate of 99.08. Her achievements included a century and two half-centuries. In the final against South Africa, her steady 45 off 58 balls helped India secure the championship.
Smriti’s father remains under observation at the hospital, with doctors conducting various tests. The family is hopeful for a swift recovery. "He is under observation. Doctors have advised to keep him in the hospital for now. They are conducting various tests," Mishra stated. "We are all in shock. We hope he recovers quickly. This is a big occasion for all of us."
Smriti’s close relationship with her father influenced her decision to delay the marriage until his recovery. Her manager, Tuhin Mishra, explained the priority given to her father's health during this time. The couple and their families now focus on Srinivas Mandhana's health, hoping for positive news soon.
