Piyush Mishra Opens Up on Ranbir Kapoor, Says He Doesn’t Carry Family’s Legacy: Itna Nanga Besharam Aadmi...
Piyush Mishra praises Ranbir Kapoor for staying relaxed and focused on craft despite family legacy. Controversy surrounding Ramayana preparation and food choices features in online discourse.

Actor Piyush Mishra has spoken warmly about Ranbir Kapoor, describing a grounded star who ignores legacy pressure and treats work with ease. Mishra’s remarks arrive while Ranbir also faces online criticism over food choices linked to Nitesh Tiwari’s film Ramayana.
Mishra and Ranbir earlier collaborated on Imtiaz Ali’s films Rockstar in 2011 and Tamasha in 2015. Reflecting on those projects during a chat with Lallantop, Mishra remembered Ranbir’s behaviour on set and highlighted how Kapoor’s attitude contrasted with his famous film family background.
Piyush Mishra Ranbir Kapoor legacy and stardom
The actor said Ranbir did not behave like a star offspring and stayed relaxed about fame. According to Mishra, Kapoor’s approach to acting seemed serious, yet stardom never appeared to affect daily conduct or work discipline, despite belonging to one of Hindi cinema’s oldest families.
Praising Ranbir’s uninhibited nature, Mishra said, "Arre, don't even ask, that guy is something else. Itna nanga besharam aadmi maine aaj tak nahi dekha (I have never seen someone so unbothered and free)." Mishra then underlined that Ranbir’s legacy did not weigh on Kapoor’s mind or influence behaviour on sets.
Piyush Mishra Ranbir Kapoor comments and long Kapoor legacy
Describing the film dynasty, Mishra added, "He comes from such a long, long legacy – his father, his grandfather, his great-grandfather, all the way back to Prithviraj Kapoor. But none of that burdens him. Not even 1%." Mishra’s comments stressed Ranbir’s focus on craft rather than lineage.
While Mishra’s praise circulated, Ranbir also faced debate after Netflix’s Dining With The Kapoors. Viewers noticed Kapoor enjoying a rich spread with family members and speculated that some dishes might be non-vegetarian, which led to questions about an earlier lifestyle statement.
Piyush Mishra Ranbir Kapoor controversy over Ramayana preparation
Ranbir had previously said that non-vegetarian food was off the menu while preparing to play Lord Ram in Ramayana. Reports in October 2023 also stated Kapoor had stopped drinking alcohol and eating meat for the role. Online users now argue the show footage appears to clash with those earlier comments.
The food shown on the series has not been clearly identified as vegetarian or non-vegetarian, leaving room for doubt. Despite that, a section of netizens continues to criticise Ranbir for what they see as inconsistency, even as Mishra’s recent remarks highlight Kapoor’s seriousness and lack of concern about inherited fame.
