Producer Jayesh Patel Reflects on Challenges of Releasing 'Kapkapiii' After director Sangeeth Sivan's Passing

Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor starrer upcoming horror-comedy film Kapkapiii producer Jayesh Patel opens up about how difficult it was to release the film after the demise of Sangeeth Sivan, and the challenges faced during post-production.

Talking about Sangeeth Sivan's vision for the film, Patel says, "Sangeeth Sivan was a filmmaker with an unmistakable creative voice, and his vision was the foundation of Kapkapiii. Fortunately, he had already approved the first edit and had detailed discussions with all the HODs (Heads of Departments) since we began post-production."

"His clarity and passion for the project meant that everyone-from the editors to the sound designers-understood exactly what he wanted. We relied heavily on his notes, our prior conversations, and the guidance of his trusted collaborators to ensure the film stayed true to his intent."

He adds, "While his physical presence was irreplaceable, his creative fingerprints were all over the process, and we treated his vision with the utmost respect. We're confident that it reflects what he set out to achieve."

Speaking about how Sivan's passing affected him personally, Patel shares, "Losing Sangeeth Sivan was deeply painful, not just for me but for the entire team. He wasn't just a brilliant director; he was a friend, a mentor, and an inspiration. I personally shared a great rapport with him."

"There was a period of grief and reflection where we questioned how to move forward-but it became clear that completing and releasing Kapkapiii would help us in every way if his last work reached a wider audience."

He concludes, "The decision to release it was made with the support of the entire team and his family's blessings. We see it as a celebration of his legacy. It's bittersweet, but we hope the film brings joy to his fans and does justice to his memory."
