Republic Day 2025: Writer Aseem Arrora, who has won accolades for films like Malang, Baazar, Bell Bottom, Mission Majnu, Freddy, Crew, The Buckingham Murders, Mukhbir and The Sabarmati Report, said that Republic Day celebrations make him nostalgic. He added that the celebrations take him back to his school days.
In an exclusive interview with Filmiveat, Aseem spoke about Republic Day celebration in Himachal Pradesh.
"Republic Day celebrations take me straight back to my days in Sainik school, in Himachal. There used to be a customary march past parade followed by special lunch. I can clearly recall how seeing the national flag get hoisted by the chief guest used to make us swell with pride. The speech, the salutes, the school band bagpipes, stomping of Oxford boots in perfect sync, it all came together to etch a deeply profound emotion. But yes, it took me a while to understand the value of 26th January, to realise how this day binds us all by the same laws, and grants us the same rights," he exclusively told Filmibeat.
Talking about patriotic films based on Republic Day, the writer said that Mani Ratnam created magic with Dil Se, showcasing Republic Day in an impactful way. He quipped, "It's a landmark event to show cinematically and the visuals of the parade from Raisina Hills to Red Fort does evoke patriotism. One film that shows Republic Day in an impactful manner is Dil Se. Mani sir created an authentic atmosphere around the 26th Jan celebrations and how significant it was for every Indian at large."
