Saif Ali Khan Attack: Actor Suffers Major Injury In Thoracic Spine; Recovering In ICU Post Surgery
Actor Saif Ali Khan is recuperating at Lilavati Hospital after sustaining critical injuries from an intruder attack. Successful surgeries were performed, and he is on a steady path to recovery.

Following an alarming incident at his Bandra home, 54-year-old actor Saif Ali Khan is recuperating from critical injuries caused by an intruder's attack. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai's Bandra at 3 am on Thursday. The actor underwent multiple surgeries, including neurosurgery to remove a knife lodged near his thoracic spine and additional procedures to mend wounds on his left hand and neck. The surgeries were successful, and Khan is now on a steady path to recovery, according to hospital authorities.
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer at Lilavati Hospital, shared an update on Khan's condition, stating that he has stabilized and is currently in the ICU, with plans to move him to a general ward soon. "Fortunately, the injuries, while deep, were managed very well by our medical team. Khan is in the ICU but is recovering steadily. We anticipate shifting him to the general ward in a day or two," he remarked, highlighting the precision with which the medical team handled the critical situation.
Dr. Nitin Dange, who led the critical spinal surgery, described the complex nature of Khan's injuries, including a significant injury to the thoracic spine and a leak in the spinal fluid. "The knife lodged in the thoracic spine caused a major injury, including a leak in the spinal fluid. We successfully removed the foreign object and repaired the spinal damage to prevent further complications. It was a delicate operation, requiring coordinated efforts from our team," he explained, emphasizing the collaborative effort required to navigate the surgery's complexities.
The actor also received treatment for deep wounds on his left hand and the right side of his neck, attended by a plastic surgery team under Dr. Leena Jain. The wounds, inflicted by sharp objects, necessitated detailed stitching and tissue repair to promote proper healing and minimize scarring. "Given the nature of these wounds, our priority was to ensure proper healing and minimise the risk of scarring," Dr. Jain elaborated, pointing out the meticulous care taken to address these injuries.
Dr. Srinivas Kudwa, a cardiologist, continuously monitored Khan to ensure his stability during the anesthesia. The successful coordination between various medical departments played a crucial role in the surgeries' success. "The coordination between departments was key to the success of these surgeries. We are pleased to report that he is now out of danger," added Dr. Dange, affirming Khan's improved condition.
Khan is expected to leave the hospital in the coming days if his recovery proceeds without any setbacks, marking a significant step towards his full recovery from this harrowing experience.
